Mr. Henry Douglas Washington passed away at the age of 75 on January 22, 2020 at his residence in Kyle. He was born to George Washington Sr. and Lillie A. Washington on December 18, 1954 in Knox City, Texas.
He graduated from O’Brien High School in O’Brien, Texas where he was Homecoming King in 1972 and captain of the six man football team which was inducted in the football hall of fame in 1972. The team was also the first integrated team in O’Brien. He attended truck driving school and lived majority of his life in Abilene, Texas. He worked for 40 years as an independent contractor for various companies including Calloway’s and Big Country Tile in Abilene, Texas. He married Vickie Wilson on December 21, 2019.
Survivors include his wife Vickie Wilson of Kyle, Texas; son, Tyrone Howard II of San Marcos, Texas; three daughters, Trisha Rollman of Hutto, Texas, Nicole Ehigie and Tyvonna Alonzo both of Kyle, Texas; four brothers, Robert Washington of Dallas, Texas, David Washington and George Washington Jr. both of Rusk, Texas, and James Washington of Seymour, Texas; four sisters, Nettie Johnson of Temple, Texas, Bobbie Sweat and Lillie Washington of Garland, Texas, and Gertrude Washington-Craig of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Greater Zion COGIC in Temple, Texas. Pastor Vernon Session and Bishop Shelton C. Rhodes will officiate the services.
