Louis Porter Burns, 91, long-time Buda resident, passed into the loving arms of God on June 8, 2020. He was born on Feb. 17,1929 to William George and Altah (Pfeiffer) Burns, of Buda, and graduated from Buda High School in May 1947.
He married Earline Bricker on Nov. 2, 1947 and they were married 12 years. They had two children, Cherilyn and Randy. During this time, he worked for the City of Austin Electric Dept. and then for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where he worked for 35 years before retiring.
He married Edna Dell Hickerson on Feb. 10, 1961 and they were married for 52 years, and had a daughter, Melissa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Betty Francis Culver and Billy George Burns; and wife Dell Burns.
Louis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend to many. He is survived by his first wife, Earline Burns, daughter and son-in-law, Cherilyn and Joe Wilson of Lexington TX; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sherry Burns, of Thorndale; and daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Mike Blair, of Odem, TX, and sister-in-law, Vera Burns. Grandchildren, Kristi Vance, Kelly Vaughn, Kathryn Redden, Kimberly Bohac, Juston Wilson and Jessica Burns. Seventeen great grandchildren plus nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Louis was an active member at First Baptist of Buda for many years, where he served on several committee, including the building committee.
(Masks encouraged) Visitation will be held at 10 am and a Celebration of Life at 11 am on June 13, 2020 at the First Baptist Church – Buda, 104 S. San Marcos St., Buda, TX.
Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church Buda, Building Fund.
