Hays County law enforcement will be handing out free BBQ plates in Kyle this Sunday.
The feast is being funded through a grant from the Capital Area Housing Finance Corporation and San Marcos BBQ is cooking all the meat and beans. Plates will also include chicken sausage, potato salad, pickles, onions and water.
Approximately 1,200 plates are expected to be given out between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the North Hays Optimist Fields, 2880 Goforth Road, Kyle. Serving will be personnel from the Sheriff’s Office San Marcos, Kyle and Buda police departments and several constables’ office.
The free meal is the second of four events planned throughout the county.
Sheriff Gary Cutler said he is excited to be able to give to the community like this.”It is a great thing to be able to give back to the community and remind the citizens of Hays County that their law enforcement agencies are here to serve them,” he said.
This will be a drive-through event and CDC guidelines are being followed. Masks are required to be worm by all who participate.
