Robert Burris Roach, 79, of Buda, Texas died on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born November 29, 1941 to Burris and Viola Schmidt Roach in Buda, Texas.
Other than time serving his Country in the US Army and Army Reserves, Buda was home.
Growing in Hays County in the 1950’s idyllic for an adventuresome youth such as Robert. He graduated from Buda High School in 1959 and entered service in the US Army in 1964.
Robert met his future wife, Pat Treadwell, on a blind date set up by her brother, in 1964 at an auto race. Robert love racing, but he fell for his beloved Pat and they soon married.
His racing included Dwarf Cars, raced at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle. He even enjoyed racing go-karts and RC (Radio Control) cars.
Robert was a creator, a wood worker and very active in his community. Through his woodworking talents, he contributed shelves to the original Buda Public Library. As a Creator, he helped build Comal Tackle Company into the leading manufacturer of fishing tackle in the country. He was Plant Manager, Led Marketing efforts, while Supervising, Manufacturing, and continued to work right up until a few months ago.
His Community involvement included being a founding member of the Hays Youth Sports Association, to serving on the Buda City Council and was Elected Mayor of Buda, serving the community from 1982 to 1991.
Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat Treadwell Roach, his son David and wife Yasmin and son Keith, grandchild Natasha and siblings Roy & wife Bessie, Wayne & wife Debbie, Clyde & Doris.
