John Edward Bowman, 89, of Buda, Texas, passed way January 21, 2022 in Buda. John was born in San Diego, California to John Ealey Birdsall and Barbara Bronson on March 16, 1932.
John served in the military for 7 years as a Marine in the US Air Force and the US Army as a heavy equipment operator in the Combat Engineers. He worked as a cowboy for ranches in Arizona and the Texas Panhandle for 7 years.
John married Lovina Marble in 1960 in Flagstaff, Arizona. They raised 10 children while he worked on an Arizona power plant as a heavy equipment operator and a traffic manager – retiring after 19 years.
John and Lovina were married for 62 years and were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they served a two-year mission in New Zealand and a one-year mission in Odgen, Utah. They were also Temple workers in the Ogden and San Antonio Temples for over 20 years. They built a home and lived for 16 years in Buda, Texas.
John is survived by his beloved spouse Lovina Bowman, of Buda, sister Barbara Hollowell of Berkeley, CA, daughters Cyndee Cook (Bill), Pam Bowman, Polly Floyd (Rory) and Mariah Nelson (Jon), and sons jeff Marble (Jodi), James Bowman (Elaine, Thomas Bowman (Loyce), John Marble (Debbie, and Daniel Bowman (Nancy). He was preceded in death by his sister Rose Arnold, brother Jack Birdsall, daughter Sue De Wit, grandson Porter Bowman, granddaughter Sarah Hane Bowman, great-grandson Parrin Sheya and great-granddaughter Eowyn Sheya.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 29, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 3751 Trail Ridge Pass, San Marcos, TX 78666 with Bishop John Anguiano officiating. Burial will follow at Kyle Cemetery, located at 3354 CR 136 (Old Stagecoach Rd.) Kyle, TX.
