Mary Lou Aguilar (1948-2022)

Mary Lou Aguilar, 73, of Kyle Texas left this world to be with Our Lord and Savior on January 20, 2022.

Mary Lou was born to Louis and Refugia Cerda on September 8, 1948 in San Marcos Texas where she was raised with her siblings Zulema, Eddie, Alfred, Linda and Sylvia. She graduated from San Marcos High School where she met her husband, Ruben Aguilar. They married shortly after high school and she began a brief career as a hair stylist before moving to Austin to raise four children. While in Austin, she volunteered at a shelter for abused women and worked many years for the IRS until retirement.

Mary Lou lived a long full life and loved her family dearly.

She had a great love for reading, crafting and cooking. She will always be remembered for the delicious food she cooked up in the kitchen and always saying that “lots of sugar and butter” were her “secret ingredients” for making everything taste so good. She loved cooking for people; it always brought her much joy to feed her family and friends.

Mary Lou was a faithful woman; her church and church family were always a central part of her life. She spent many of her early years volunteering at church fundraising events and teaching young children Religious Education and Sacramental Formation. As a devout Catholic, she attended Sunday Mass and prayed the Holy Rosary nightly with her husband, Ruben. During her final days, her faith carried her throughout and brought her peace.

Her family is comforted knowing that she is now resting in the loving arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Linda, her brother, Eddie, her mother-in-law, Matilde and her sister-in-law, Dolores. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ruben, her children, Lesley (and husband David Rodriguez), Ruby (and husband Rey Sigala), Amy (and husband Bobby Jones), Brian Aguilar and her grandchildren Mariana, Marissa, Gina, Grayson and Tilly.

A visitation and Vigil Service will be held on Monday, February 7 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm which will include a recitation of the Holy Rosary at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby, Kyle TX 78640.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 8 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church, 801 N. Burleson, Kyle Texas, followed by a private burial and Rite of Committal at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider making a donation in her memory to St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church.”
