Albert F. Busse, Jr. was born to Albert and Elvira (Beutnagle) Busse in 1936 in Kingsbury, Texas. He was trilingual: German in the home, English in school, and Spanish as an adult. He was a life-long student of cultures, religions, human rights, and many other interests. He excelled in sports at Kyle High School; All-State in Football and Basketball and went to Nationals in FFA. He attended Texas Lutheran College and Southwest Texas State University leaving a few credits shy of a Bachelor’s degree. He was proud that all of his children graduated from college.
Some of Albert’s accomplishments in life included being Honorably discharged from the Army reserves in 1964, being the first single male foster parent in the state of Texas, being a public servant, and the Busse Dairy which was the last operating dairy in Hays County. The dairy was changed to ranching when he was elected as Justice of the Peace for Hays County Precinct 2 in 1994. He served one term as JP, several terms as an Alderman for the City of Uhland, and as Mayor of Uhland.
Albert was a father, step-father, foster-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and foreign exchange student host. Being a father-figure was perhaps his greatest joy in life. He enjoyed sharing the farm with family and other visitors by showing them around the dairy operation including all of his farm animals. He would often saddle up a horse and/or donkey or hitch up a buggy so others could also have the joy of riding/driving his graceful animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jerilyn O’Neill. He is survived by his sister Betty Jo Kellar (Herb), his three children Craig (Lisa) Busse, Michelle (Don) Jefferis and Dana (Ross) Izard, seven grandchildren Sean Izard (Katie), Tyler Busse, Lauren Jefferis, Sam Jefferis, Will Jefferis, Jackson Izard, and Drake Izard and two great-granddaughters Aurora and Vivian Izard.
A celebration of life will be planned for later in the spring. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Foster Angels of Central Texas (fosterangelsctx.org) or an animal rescue of your choice.
