SAN MARCOS — San Marcos CISD announced that classes at Goodnight Middle School have been canceled.
The district alerted parents in a tweet around 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, that the school was ‘on a hold’ due to a medical emergency that occurred in the parking lot. San Marcos CISD stated that there was no threat to the campus and EMS and first responders were onsite to deal with the medical emergency only.
Around 10 a.m., San Marcos Police Department informed the public that Highway 123 was going to be shut down to allow for the relocation of Goodnight Middle School students.
For parents who are now picking up their students at the San Marcos High School Student Activity Center should enter off Rattler Road, pass the guard shack in the parking lot, stay to the right and pick up behind the tennis courts. Bus routes will be provided later today.
“Students and staff are safe. Our main focus is reuniting students with families at this time. Additional information regarding today’s incident will be shared later today,” a San Marcos CISD representative stated.
The Hays Free Press has requested more information from San Marcos CISD and San Marcos PD. We will continue to provide updates as they come in.
