Pug held many roles throughout his life – teacher, coach, rancher, community leader, but most importantly loving husband, dad, and papa. Pug was a proud graduate of Dripping Springs High School and the University of Texas. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Janet Berdoll Rippy. Pug and Janet raised their family in Dripping Springs while he taught and coached everything from football and girls basketball to history and elementary PE. After retiring from coaching, Pug turned his efforts to community involvement, becoming Hays County Commissioner and spearheading efforts to renovate the historical Hays County courthouse and building the foundation for Founder’s Park in Dripping Springs which would include a public pool for all children to enjoy. He served on many boards for the betterment of Dripping Springs. After officially retiring, he spent his retirement years as the owner of the family business, Rippy Ranch Supply. There he greeted countless customers into the store and before they left, they would call Pug a friend. From all of his accomplishments, the one that gave him the most joy was his family. With his devoted, loving wife Janet, they raised three wonderful children and have six adored grandchildren. You could always find Pug at one of the grandkid’s events, cheering them on.
