Tom was born on October 9, 1941, in Plaquemine, LA and attended St John Catholic School. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1963 with a degree in Accounting and earned officer status in the U.S. Air Force through participation in ROTC. While in the Air Force, he served in Savannah, GA, Karamursel, Turkey and San Antonio, TX. He left the Air Force in 1968 and returned to Baton Rouge, LA where he was the office manager at The Athletic House until it’s closing in 1990. He and Renee moved to Buda, TX in June 2001 where he worked for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services for over 15 years. He retired in October 2019. He was a member of Santa Cruz Catholic Church where he was a member of Men’s Club, Parish council for financial decisions, collections counter team, and Fair committee. He also served as a Eucharistic minister and an usher.
He was proud to be a veteran of the United States Air Force and a true patriot. He loved his LSU Tigers, dancing, cooking (especially his famous gumbo), spending time with family, “paperwork”, interesting pens, and his own jokes.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Stanley Appel and the staff at the Houston Methodist Neuromuscular Clinic, the Veteran’s Administration ALS Team of Central Texas, the nurses at Maxim Healthcare Services (especially Krystal, Carmen, Brittany Warwick, Nikia, John, Josiah, Brittany Whitaker, Edwin, and London), JOL Hospice (especially his CNA, Alyssa), Austin Hospice and Greg Treacy of Paralyzed Veterans of America.
