KYLE — Members of the community are invited to join the city of Kyle in honoring veterans at the 2023 Veterans Day Parade and festivities on Saturday, Nov. 11 in downtown Kyle.
Beginning at noon, the parade will travel east along Center St. from Gregg-Clarke Park and it will end at Front St. on the City Square.
Several street closures will be in effect due to the parade and Market Days.
• Center St. from Ramirez St. to just past Front St. will be closed to traffic beginning at 11:30 a.m. and going until after the parade.
• Traffic will be detoured using North Front St., Blanco St. and Veterans Drive.
• Burleson St. from Center St. to Miller St., and Miller St. from Burleson St. to Main St., will be closed for Market Days from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The best locations to view the Kyle Veterans Day Parade will be on either side of Center St. between Gregg-Clarke Park and Mary Kyle Hartson Park. To keep everyone safe, the city is asking attendees to stay on sidewalks or grassy areas along Center St. and not to run into the street when the parade is going by.
The Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is still taking parade entries. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 or until all spaces are filled.
There is no cost to participate in the parade. This is a great opportunity for veterans groups, community organizations, businesses and area school districts to show their support for our veterans and increase their familiarity in the community, according to the city.
Interested organizations and individuals can apply at CityofKyle.com/VeteransDay.
The parade will happen in conjunction with Market Days — similar to the Founders Day Parade that happened in October. The market will include live music, local vendors, arts and crafts, farm-to-market items and more from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mary Kyle Hartson Park.
Businesses and organizations interested in becoming vendors can visit CityofKyle.com/MarketDays to apply and learn more. The deadline to apply is 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6.
Those interested in being a sponsor or who have questions about the parade can contact the Kyle Parks Office at 512-262-3939 and ask for recreation programmer Sheba Aligaweesa or email saligaweesa@cityofkyle.com.
