DRIPPING SPRINGS — Dripping Springs High School senior Drew Darilek was named to the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Band after his performance at the Area E auditions on Saturday, Jan. 6 at Westlake High School.
Darilek was one of 22 tuba players across the state of Texas to earn All-State accolades.
DSHS was represented by 21 members of the Tiger Band at the Area E auditions. Other competitors were Omar Acosta (alto sax), Keegan Ballard (trombone), Grace Bertram (baritone sax), Eric Brown, (contrabass clarinet), Jackie Garcia (percussion), Kaitlyn Greene (Bb clarinet), Parker Hoffman (percussion), Alyssa Lantz (piccolo), Marthinus Lourens (bassoon), Gavin MacAlpine (Bb clarinet), Graeme MacAlpine (horn), Woody Mau (bass clarinet), Dylan Moore (Bb clarinet), Evan Murphy (percussion), Josh Peters (horn), Jaden Pina (percussion), Alana Sayger (horn), Kylie Smith (flute), Kalle Thomas (tenor sax) and Madeline Trussell (flute).
Darilek will participate in an All-State clinic and concert from Feb. 7-10 at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio.
