WIMBERLEY — Community members are invited to attend a special dedication ceremony for the library at Blue Hole Primary School.
The ceremony is to commemorate the naming of the Johnna Beth Dennis Library. Dennis was a longtime Wimberley educator, who died in August following a courageous battle with cancer.
During its regular meeting on Sept. 18, 2023 the WISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved to name the Blue Hole Primary library in honor of Dennis, as she inspired WISD students for 30 years, showcasing a commitment to her students and peers that had an immeasurable impact. During her final year at WISD, as a second grade teacher at Blue Hole Primary, she was voted Teacher of the Year by her peers. She leaves behind a legacy to be admired and treasured and will now be forever immortalized with her name showcased on the exterior of the library at Blue Hole Primary.
The district will host the ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16 at the campus — the event will begin outside and moving indoors for light refreshments and the opportunity to celebrate and honor memories of the beloved educator. There is no school on Feb. 16 for WISD students, as teachers will be participating in professional development during the day.
