Alfred Seiler of Buda, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the young age of 94. He was born October 17, 1929, in Goliad County, Texas to Fred and Elsa Seiler.
He served in the US Army from 1951 – 1953 during the Korean War and stayed active in the US Army Reserve until his honorable discharge in 1956.
After his military service Alfred worked at Camp Gary in San Marcos until it was closed. Then he went to work in Austin for the Edsel Dealer, until making the move to Roy Butler Lincoln Mercury. During his time there, he serviced the presidential and personal vehicles of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Later he opened his own auto-mechanic shop in Buda, until the doctor told him he couldn’t turn wrenches anymore. He then sold Cornwell Tools until his retirement.
He married Ella May Guthrie in 1962 and they were married 48 years until her death in 2010. From their union sons Steve and Kenneth were born.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Elsa Seiler, wife Ella Mae Seiler, son Steve Seiler, sister Elarine Seiler, Josephine Bartlett, Alma Sherrill, Nellrose Duran, Rosalia Autrey and Gladys Duran, and brothers Alvin and Roy Seiler. Left to cherish his memory is son Kenneth Seiler, Cousin Robert Jaeger, one niece and five nephews.
The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who assisted with his care. He did have several he cared a lot for. Special thanks to Kim for her valuable assistance.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle, 1715 Kirby, Kyle, TX 78640. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle with Pastor David Sweet officiating. Alfred will be laid to rest in Live Oak Cemetery, Manchaca, TX next to his beloved wife, Ella Mae.
