KYLE — The city of Kyle is one step closer to securing a future water supply as the Alliance Regional Water Authority (ARWA) begins construction on the final pipeline, Segment C, of the Carrizo-Wilcox Water Project.
More than 20 miles in length, Segment C marks the final segment of the ARWA transmission system to begin construction and is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2025.
“The start of this work in our community puts the finish line of a multi-year, collaborative project in sight and marks the beginning of a new era,” said Director of Water Utilities Mike Murphy. “While we are excited for this transmission system to come online, we are by no means done expanding our water portfolio and meeting our goal of providing long-term water solutions for our residents.”
In June, crews will conduct environmental surveys, tunnel boring and clearing sites to begin staging materials for pipe installation. As pipeline construction progresses, community members may notice several construction activities, including site clearing, staging of pipe and materials, trenching and movement of other large support equipment, according to a city news release.
The pipeline will be tunneled under roadways, allowing for all major roadways to remain open.
Currently, crews are working on pipeline construction in the Bunton Creek subdivision.
“We are excited to get this pipeline project started in construction and look forward to delivering water to our sponsors along this pipeline in the near future,” said ARWA Executive Director Graham Moore.
Once completed, the Carrizo-Wilcox Water Project’s transmission system will showcase the collaborative efforts of ARWA, the Canyon Regional Water Authority, and the cities of Kyle, Buda and San Marcos, providing more than six million gallons of water daily, with more water to come in future phases, according to the city.
