At its June 18 meeting, the Hays County Commissioners Court recognized June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. According to the proclamation signed by the commissioners, Pride Month is a time to remember the gift of diversity, “as our LGBTQIA+ neighbors have made, and continue to make, great and lasting contributions that make our community stronger.” Following the approval of the proclamation, commissioner Michelle Cohen stated, “What I learned about being a commissioner is it isn’t just about roads and bridges, it is about the quality of life for everybody that lives in our county. That’s what we try and focus on. So, I will always advocate for marginalized communities in Hays County and I believe love is love.”
