Micro-surfaced roads will need to be closed after being treated, but will reopen after the coating has cured, which will take a few hours. The city asks that residents do not drive or walk on the new surface until the crew has opened the street. Fresh coating can stick to car tires and paint. When the micro-surfacing is “cured”, the work crew will remove the cones or barricades.
Micro-surfacing is a preventative maintenance sealing treatment used to extend the lifetime of blacktop roadways. Benefits of micro-surfacing include easy application, suitable for low-volume roads and cost-effective as it creates an expenditure of approximately one-third the costs of a pure blacktop overlay.
