AUSTIN -— Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) employees and its members donated $10,000 to the Dell Children’s Medical Center (DCMC) Foundation.
According to a news release, this brings PEC’s total contribution to the foundation to $100,000 since 1996. Funds came from a combination of PEC’s United Charities, where employees contribute a portion of their pay each month, and from PEC’s Employee Giving Corporate Matching Program funded through PEC’s Power of Change, where members enrolled round their bills to the nearest dollar for charity.
“Caring for our community is core to PEC and it is our pleasure to support Dell Children’s in its mission to improve the lives and health of Central Texas children,” said Celeste Mikeska, PEC community relations manager. “This gift exemplifies our cooperative spirit by showing that when we all give a little, we can make a significant impact and we hope to inspire even more members and employees to experience the joy of giving back.”
Donations to DCMC Foundation aid in funding medical care, research and education and programs for Central Texas pediatric patients and their families.
“Partners like Pedernales Electric Cooperative truly embody what it means for a community to come together for an important cause, engaging their employees to give in support of Dell Children’s, as well as offering a way for their members to round up their bills, said Megan Campuzano, senior director of Annual Giving for Dell Children’s Foundation. “We are grateful for their partnership to help ensure that Dell Children’s can provide world class care for families, right here at home.”
