DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Sententia Vera Cultural Hub, located at 4002 E. Hwy 290 in Dripping Springs, is co-hosting an event for musicians in the Central Texas area with The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM).
Founded by Teresa Carbajal Ravet in 2017, the Hub started out as a coworking space, offering memberships to people who needed a space outside of the home or office to work. It is also used as a community space, hosting many different types of events, such as meetings and celebrations.
“My mission [is to create] a community, a culture of community, where anyone and everyone is welcome,” said Carbajal Ravet.
HAAM is an organization that offers “access to affordable healthcare for the greater Austin’s low-income, working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness,” according to its website.
It has helped musicians access over $191 million in healthcare services since 2005 across seven counties in Central Texas: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnett, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson, according to Carbajal Ravet.
The Hub is co-hosting HAAM Day for musicians to partner up with event spaces and venues and play live music throughout the day. Venues like Antone’s and Güero’s in Austin are some of the other businesses participating in HAAM Day.
The event lands on Sept. 24 this year and the Hub is celebrating by having a “daylong Happy Hour,” ending the day with some live music from 7 to 9 p.m., provided by Alex Dormont of the Hot Texas Swing Band.
The event is free to the public and 10% of all proceeds from the sales of snacks and drinks will be donated to HAAM. The fundraising goal for the Hub is $500 and they are accepting donations during the day. To donate, visit to www.sententiavera.com/ myhaam.
As stated on the HAAM website, “Austin is the ‘Live Music Capital of the World,’ and we aim to keep it that way.”
