Joann Wilkerson left her earthly body on October 16, 2024 and entered eternal rest. She was born on August 5, 1935 to Rella and Maude Jones Valentine in Amarillo Hospital and was raised in Vega, Texas, along Route 66.
In 1953 with her parents and a Baptist minister, she and William Fletcher Wilkerson, Jr. traveled to Tucumcari, New Mexico where they were married. Soon thereafter they moved to Abilene, Texas where William worked in the family business, Wilkerson & Sons Automotive Repair. When her husband William passed on May 6, 2017, Joann moved to Kyle, Texas to live with her son Lynn.
Joann was part of a set of triplets born to Maude and Rella and she was preceded in death by her triplet brother Jimmy Valetine and is survived by her triplet sister Jackie Valentine Pratt.
She is also survived by her son Lynn Wilkerson and his wife Kay; grandchildren Abby West, Ruth Potthoff, Jeremy Wilkerson and David LeBlanc; along with great-grandchildren Luke and Josh Potthoff and Cedar and Joaquin West.
Joann loved growing things, songbirds and most of all, she loved the Lord!
