This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the murder of Kyle Police Department’s (KPD) Victim Services Coordinator Samantha Dean. On Thursday, Feb. 6, the soft interview room at KPD headquarters was dedicated to Samantha and her unborn child, Maddie. Samantha’s mother, Kimberly Dean, speaks at the dedication. “That seems to be the most amazing piece about [my daughter], is she made each person that she ran across feel as if you were the most important person that was standing in front of her,” said Kimberly. “You all need to know just how important you are. It’s very important to know that and I thank you very much.”

This soft interview room, known as Samantha’s Space and Maddie’s Corner, was designed to comfort victims of crimes, rather than speaking with them in an interrogation room, Samantha’s Space and Maddie’s corner provides a comfortable, calming environment.
