SAN MARCOS — Seasons of Science, organized by Texas State University’s Department of Biology and the Hays County Master Naturalists, is set to transform local breweries into interactive science spaces this April.
According to a news release, the events will offer the following: exploring the critical role of pollinators in Central Texas ecosystems, learning about local pollinators at an interactive education table, playing the hands-on pollination game, decorating an eco-friendly flower pot at the craft station, joining a guided nature exploration with a research rangers guide and enjoying a day outside at a local small business.
The upcoming event aims to make science enjoyable for adults, while creating a welcoming environment for families to learn together, the release stated.
“Seasons of Science breaks down the barriers between scientific education and community engagement,” said Jill Zipperer, outreach liaison. “We’re bringing science out of the classroom and into spaces where people naturally gather, making learning both fun and approachable.”
Interested community members can visit with the Seasons of Science team all weekend April 4-6 at local small business partners: Friday, April 4, from 2-6 p.m. at Jester King Brewery, located at 13187 Fitzhugh Road in Austin; Saturday, April 5, from 1-5 p.m. at The Shady Llama, located at 18325 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley; and Sunday, April 6, from 1-5 p.m. at Roughhouse Brewing, located at 680 Oakwood Loop in San Marcos.
